Collection: Welding Inspection

To reduce the interference of external ambient light on the structured light image of the weld seam, a filter needs to be installed in front of the lens.
The main function of the filter is to selectively allow only laser light of a specific wavelength to pass through, and to absorb as much as possible the light of other wavelengths.

For example the laser emitter used has a wavelength of 650nm, a 650nm bandpass filter is selected to ensure that the structured light can pass through completely and form an image in the camera."

Blue laser not affected by hot targets

a. Reflected blue laser light

b. Radiant light from hot targets
(including many wavelength components between red and infrared)

c. Band-pass filter passing light of around 405 nm only
(preventing the influence of the wavelength components between red and infrared)

  • Selecting Filters

    1. Center Wavelength
The center wavelength should be close the wavelength that your profiler emit.
(The profiler will usually have a diode laser built in, you can check manufacturer datasheet for reference)

    2. FWHM
The FWHM can be anything from 10nm to 40nm. Usually 10nm will be sufficient for most of the condition.
