Optical contact refers to a phenomenon where two transparent solid surfaces are brought together in such a way that they adhere to each other without the use of adhesives or bonding agents. This adhesion occurs through intermolecular forces, primarily when the surfaces are extremely smooth and conformal, allowing for significant contact area at a microscopic level.
