Fluorescence Microscopy & Life Sciences

Scientists use glowing dyes to study tiny details inside cells. They shine a bright visible light (like green or yellow) on the sample to make it "excite" and glow in a deep red or infrared color. The LP650 filter acts like highly specialized sunglasses for the microscope camera: it completely blocks the blinding visible light (OD5@200-640nm) but lets the deep red glow of the cells pass right through to the camera (T>85%@660-1750nm).

Recommended light source:

• Green or Yellow Lasers/LEDs (e.g., 532nm or 590nm) light source: These are perfectly blocked by the filter so they don't blind the camera, but they carry the exact right energy to make deep-red scientific dyes glow.
• Broad-spectrum Xenon or Halogen lamps (paired with an excitation filter) light source: They provide very bright, intense light to stimulate the sample, while the LP650 filter successfully blocks out all the distracting visible glare from reaching the lens.

Security Cameras & Night Vision

Security cameras need to see clearly in the dark without using bright spotlights that annoy neighbors or alert intruders. They use "invisible" infrared light to illuminate the yard. The LP650 filter is used over the camera sensor to block out confusing glare from car headlights, street lamps, or daytime sun, ensuring the camera only picks up the clean, infrared bounce-back image.

Recommended light source:

• 850nm Infrared LED light source: Emits a very strong infrared light that passes straight through the filter, providing long-distance night vision while being almost completely invisible to the human eye.
• 940nm Infrared LED light source: This wavelength is completely invisible to the human eye (it doesn't even have the faint red glow that 850nm has), making it perfect for totally hidden security setups while still passing beautifully through your filter's 660-1750nm window.
