The advantage is that the filter provides an absolute brick wall (OD6 rating) against the intense UV light, preventing the camera from being blinded and making the faint glow stand out sharply against a dark background.
• 415nm Forensic Blue Light: This is used to illuminate special fluorescent powders when dusting for fingerprints. The advantage here is perfect timing: the filter chops off this harsh blue light entirely, allowing only the bright green or orange glow of the fingerprint powder to pass through to the camera.
