Collection: Filter Cubes

A microscope filter cube is a specialized optical component used in fluorescence microscopy. It's designed to selectively filter light based on wavelength, allowing for the visualization of specific fluorescent molecules within a sample.

Components of a Filter Cube

  • Excitation Filter: This filter transmits light of a specific wavelength that excites the fluorescent molecules in the sample.
  • Dichroic Mirror: This mirror reflects light of the excitation wavelength towards the sample but transmits light of the emitted fluorescence wavelength.
  • Emission Filter: This filter transmits light of the emitted fluorescence wavelength, allowing it to reach the detector (e.g., a camera or eyepiece).
