Notch Filter
Notch filters are designed to block a specific, narrow wavelength band while transmitting light on both sides of the rejected band. They provide deep OD5 to OD6 blocking to eliminate unwanted laser lines or specific emission peaks while maintaining high transmission across the remaining spectrum.
Applications:
- Raman spectroscopy for blocking Rayleigh-scattered excitation laser light
- Fluorescence microscopy and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) to eliminate the excitation source from reaching the detector
- Laser-based medical and surgical systems for detector-side sensor protection
- Laser safety and optical isolation in alignment, measurement, and metrology setups
- Machine vision and automated optical inspection (AOI) to block specific interfering ambient or factory light sources
Notch width options:
- Narrow notch widths for tight laser line blocking with minimal loss of adjacent useful target signals
- Broad notch widths for eliminating wider emission bands or accommodating multiple closely spaced laser lines
Select the notch wavelength and bandwidth based on the target blocked wavelength, required transmission range, detector sensitivity, blocking range, and required signal level.
