BP1064-6 Bandpass Filter - Nd:YAG Laser Cleanup
Nd:YAG Laser Cleanup
This is the most common use. It cleans up the output of 1064 nm lasers by removing "pump light" or spontaneous emission noise, ensuring the beam is spectrally pure.
Recommended Light Sources
- Nd:YAG Lasers: Solid-state lasers (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) are the primary standard for this wavelength.
- Yb-Doped Fiber Lasers: Ytterbium fiber lasers can also be tuned or designed to emit at 1064 nm.
- 1064 nm Laser Diodes: Semiconductor laser diodes designed for this specific infrared frequency.

BP1064-6 Bandpass Filter - LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging)
LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging)
Used in remote sensing systems to filter out sunlight and background noise so the sensor detects only the returning 1064 nm laser pulse.
Recommended Light Sources
- Precise Wavelength (1064 nm): Nd:YAG lasers naturally emit at exactly 1064 nm, perfectly matching the center wavelength of your BP1064-6 filter. This ensures maximum transmission of the signal through the filter while blocking solar radiation.
- High Peak Power: LIDAR requires short, intense bursts of light to travel long distances and reflect back. Nd:YAG lasers are capable of Q-switching, a technique that compresses energy into extremely short pulses (nanoseconds) with very high peak power, which is essential for accurate Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging.
- Spectral Purity: These lasers have a narrow linewidth (spectral width). Since your filter has a narrow 6 nm bandwidth, the laser's tight spectral output ensures that all the emitted energy fits inside the filter's "window," maximizing efficiency.
Fequently Asked Questions
Will this filter work at an angle?
This filter is optimized for near normal incidence. At larger angles, the center wavelength may shift, which can affect performance. If your system operates at an angle, we recommend validating with a sample.
Can I stack this filter with other filters?
Yes, filters can be stacked to achieve additional blocking or spectral shaping. However, stacking may introduce reflection losses and should be tested in your system.
Can I request a custom wavelength or size?
Yes, we support custom center wavelength (CWL), bandwidth (FWHM), dimensions, and mounting options. Contact us with your requirements for recommendations.
What is the difference between mounted and unmounted filters?
Unmounted filters are bare optics suitable if you already have a holder. Mounted filters come in an anodized aluminum ring (with or without threading) for easier system integration.
