Versatile SWIR Bandpass Filter - BP1550-50
Maximize your short-wave infrared capabilities with our BP1550-50 bandpass filter, expertly engineered for versatile performance at 1550nm. This high-performance filter combines a broad 50nm full width at half maximum (FWHM) with reliable optical characteristics, making it the ideal choice for telecommunications, LiDAR systems, and SWIR applications requiring enhanced light collection and broader spectral coverage.
Versatile Performance:
- Center Wavelength: 1550nm - Eye-safe telecommunications wavelength
- Broad Bandwidth: 50nm FWHM for enhanced light collection and versatility
- SWIR Optimized: Designed for short-wave infrared applications
- Telecommunications Grade: Perfect for fiber optic and communication systems
- LiDAR Compatible: Suitable for eye-safe LiDAR applications
Key Applications:
Essential for fiber optic communications, eye-safe LiDAR systems, SWIR imaging, and telecommunications equipment. The 1550nm wavelength is the industry standard for long-haul fiber optic communications and eye-safe laser applications, while the broad 50nm bandwidth provides excellent light collection efficiency for diverse system requirements.
Telecommunications Excellence:
The BP1550-50 is specifically optimized for the telecommunications C-band where 1550nm represents the lowest loss window in optical fibers. The broad 50nm bandwidth accommodates multiple communication channels and provides flexibility for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems and broadband optical applications.
Eye-Safe LiDAR Systems:
Widely adopted in eye-safe LiDAR applications where the 1550nm wavelength provides safe operation for human exposure while maintaining excellent atmospheric transmission characteristics. The broad bandwidth enhances signal collection efficiency, making it ideal for long-range detection and mapping applications.
SWIR Imaging Applications:
Perfect for short-wave infrared imaging systems, surveillance equipment, and industrial inspection applications where the 1550nm wavelength provides unique material discrimination capabilities. The broad spectral coverage enables enhanced image contrast and material identification in challenging environments.
Technical Advantages:
The BP1550-50's broad 50nm passband provides excellent light collection efficiency while maintaining adequate spectral selectivity for most SWIR applications. This versatile approach makes it ideal for systems where signal strength and broad spectral coverage are more important than narrow wavelength discrimination.
SyronOptics Quality Assurance:
Each BP1550-50 filter undergoes comprehensive testing to ensure consistent center wavelength accuracy, reliable transmission characteristics, and effective blocking performance. Our commitment to quality ensures dependable performance across your entire range of SWIR and telecommunications applications.

Optical dicing refers to precision cutting processes used to segment optical materials, particularly those with specialized coatings, into smaller functional components while maintaining their structural and optical integrity. In the context of optical coating flats (flat substrates like glass, fused silica, or semiconductors coated with anti-reflective, dielectric, or other optical layers), dicing ensures these coated substrates meet exact dimensional requirements for applications in photonics, lasers, sensors, and semiconductor devices.
Methods
- Saw Dicing: Diamond-coated blades for clean cuts with minimal chipping.
- Laser Dicing: Non-contact ablation for delicate or brittle materials, reducing mechanical stress.
- Plasma Dicing: Dry etching for ultra-fine features, ideal for advanced semiconductor wafers.
Price
Dicing Service will generally cost from $50 to $125 per piece. Depending on the accuracy and size you are requesting.

Fequently Asked Questions
What are the Thickness of the Optical Filters?
For Mounted Optics:
- 6mm (by Default)
- 3.5mm (Specified in Order Note)
For Unmounted Optics:
- 0.5mm
- 1.1mm
- 2mm
(most of the unmounted optics are having thickness of 1.1mm ~ 2mm)
What is the difference between mountings?
Unmounted:
- a bare glass optical filter
Mounted:
- Smooth Mount for protection of the optics. No thread is there on the mount.
Metric Mount:
- Start with M as prefix, usually seens as M25.5x0.5mm. Mostly used as camera filters
Imperial Mount (Usually Thorlabs):
- Start with SM as prefix, usually seen SM1, SM05 etc... Mostly used in Optical system. (You will have a SM external thread to connecting to other objects)
C-Mount:
- Very frequently used mounting. C-Mount is 1‘’-32TPI. And it is not the same thing as SM1, or M25.5x0.5mm.
