BP375-28 Bandpass Filter - UV Fluorescence Imaging (Excitation Clean-up)
UV Fluorescence Imaging (Excitation Clean-up)
- Function: In fluorescence applications, this filter is often used as an excitation filter. It is placed in front of a broadband UV source or a UV LED to "clean up" the light, ensuring that only the 375 nm wavelength hits the sample.
- Target Fluorophores: It is suitable for exciting fluorophores that absorb in the UV range, such as DAPI, Hoechst, or BFP (Blue Fluorescent Protein), which emit blue light (approx. 450–460 nm) upon excitation.
- Forensics: Used to isolate specific UV wavelengths to detect bodily fluids or fibers that fluoresce under UV-A light.
Recommended Light Sources
- High-Power 375 nm UV LED: Matches the filter's center wavelength (375 nm) to ensure maximum excitation energy reaches the fluorophores (like DAPI or Hoechst), while the filter cleans up the LED's spectral "tails" to prevent background noise.

BP375-28 Bandpass Filter - Machine Vision & Industrial Inspection
Machine Vision & Industrial Inspection
- Function: Used on a camera lens to block all ambient visible light (sunlight, overhead room lights) while passing only the UV light used to illuminate the object.
- Specific Uses:UV Curing Inspection: Verifying the presence or placement of clear adhesives, coatings, or glues that contain UV-fluorescent tracers.Surface Inspection: Detecting scratches or dust on highly reflective surfaces (like glass or wafers) where UV light scatters differently than visible light.Electronic Inspection: Inspecting conformal coatings on PCBs.
Recommended Light Sources
- 375 nm UV LED (Ring Light or Bar Light): Matches the filter's center wavelength to maximize image brightness and contrast while utilizing the filter's ability to block all ambient light.
Fequently Asked Questions
Different Types of Filter Mountings
Unmounted:
- a bare glass optical filter
Mounted:
- Smooth Mount for protection of the optics. No thread is there on the mount.
Metric Mount:
- Start with M as prefix, usually seens as M25.5x0.5mm. Mostly used as camera filters
Imperial Mount:
- Start with SM as prefix, usually seen SM1, SM05 etc... Mostly used in Optical system. (You will have a SM external thread to connecting to other objects)
C-Mount:
- Very frequently used mounting. C-Mount is 1‘’-32TPI. And it is not the same thing as SM1, or M25.5x0.5mm.
What are the Thickness of the Optical Filters?
For Unmounted Optics:
- 0.5mm
- 1.1mm
- 2.0mm
*Most of our optics are coming with 1.1mm and 2.0mm
With Standard Mounting (Mounted, No Thread):
- 3.5mm (Default)
- 6mm (Upon Request)
