BP750-50 Bandpass Filter - Fluorescence Microscopy & Imaging (Excitation)
Fluorescence Microscopy & Imaging (Excitation)
This filter is ideally suited as an Excitation Filter for Near-Infrared (NIR) fluorophores. The 725–775 nm window aligns perfectly with the excitation maxima of specific long-wavelength dyes.
- Target Fluorophores:Alexa Fluor 750: Excitation max ~749 nm.Cy7 (Cyanine 7): Excitation max ~750 nm.XFD750: Excitation max ~752 nm.
- Function: The filter isolates the specific excitation energy from a broadband source or cleans up a laser/LED line, ensuring no stray light bleeds into the emission channel (which would likely be >780 nm).
Recommended Light Sources
- High-Power NIR LED (750 nm): Matches the filter's center wavelength and the fluorophores' excitation peaks perfectly, offering the highest photon efficiency with minimal heat generation.
- Tungsten-Halogen Lamp: Naturally emits the majority of its energy in the Near-Infrared (NIR) spectrum, providing a cost-effective and high-intensity photon flux for this specific wavelength range.
- Xenon Arc Lamp: Provides a strong, continuous spectrum across UV, Visible, and NIR, making it ideal for systems that need to switch between visible dyes (like GFP) and NIR dyes (like Cy7) using a single source.
- NIR Diode Laser (750 nm): Delivers concentrated, high-intensity excitation for confocal or structured illumination systems; the filter is essential here to "clean up" spectral side-lobes and prevent background noise.

BP750-50 Bandpass Filter - Vegetation Analysis (NDVI & Red Edge)
Vegetation Analysis (NDVI & Red Edge)
In remote sensing and agronomy, 750 nm falls directly into the "Red Edge" spectral region (the transition between red pigment absorption and NIR scattering in plant leaves).
- Usage: Used in multi-spectral cameras to measure plant health, chlorophyll content, and stress levels.
- Result: High reflectance at 750 nm typically indicates healthy cellular structure in vegetation.
Recommended Light Sources
- Solar Radiation (Sunlight): The primary source for passive remote sensing (drones, satellites); it provides the necessary broadband spectrum to capture the natural reflectance difference between red pigment absorption and NIR scattering without requiring external power.
- Halogen-Tungsten Lamp: Ideal for laboratory settings or indoor agricultural conveyors; emits a rich, stable continuous spectrum in the NIR region, ensuring consistent reflectance data unaffected by cloud cover or time of day.
- Active NIR LED Array (750 nm): Essential for "active" proximal sensors (handheld devices or ground rovers); allows for measurement day or night by providing a controlled, modulated light source that overrides ambient lighting conditions.
- Xenon Flash Lamp: Used in some high-speed multispectral camera systems; provides an intense, broad-spectrum burst that freezes motion and ensures sufficient signal-to-noise ratio during rapid aerial mapping.
Fequently Asked Questions
Different Types of Filter Mountings
Unmounted:
- a bare glass optical filter
Mounted:
- Smooth Mount for protection of the optics. No thread is there on the mount.
Metric Mount:
- Start with M as prefix, usually seens as M25.5x0.5mm. Mostly used as camera filters
Imperial Mount:
- Start with SM as prefix, usually seen SM1, SM05 etc... Mostly used in Optical system. (You will have a SM external thread to connecting to other objects)
C-Mount:
- Very frequently used mounting. C-Mount is 1‘’-32TPI. And it is not the same thing as SM1, or M25.5x0.5mm.
What are the Thickness of the Optical Filters?
For Unmounted Optics:
- 0.5mm
- 1.1mm
- 2.0mm
*Most of our optics are coming with 1.1mm and 2.0mm
With Standard Mounting (Mounted, No Thread):
- 3.5mm (Default)
- 6mm (Upon Request)
