LP900 Longpass Filter - Laser Diode Inspection
Laser Diode Inspection
Specifically used for viewing 915nm laser diodes. The filter blocks the laser's "pump" light or ambient noise, allowing the camera to see only the reflected laser light.
Recommended Light Sources
To use this filter effectively, your light source must output significant energy above 900nm. Standard white LEDs will appear completely black through this filter.
- 915nm or 940nm LEDs: These are the ideal matched sources. The LP900 will pass nearly 100% of their output while blocking all other ambient interference. 940nm is a common "covert" IR wavelength.
- 915nm Laser Diodes: As mentioned in applications, this is a specific target wavelength for this filter.
- Xenon Strobes: While Xenon covers the full spectrum, it has strong IR output. The filter will cut the visible flash, leaving only the high-intensity IR pulse for the camera.
- Halogen/Tungsten: These run hot and output massive amounts of infrared light (up to 2000nm+), making them excellent sources for LP900 applications, provided heat management is not an issue.

LP900 Longpass Filter - Forensics
Forensics (Blood & Gunshot Residue)
When used on a camera with its IR-cut filter removed, the LP900 can reveal blood stains or gunshot residue on dark fabrics (like denim) by making the fabric appear white/reflective while the residue remains dark.
Recommended Light Sources
- High-Intensity 940nm IR LED: 940nm is a standard infrared wavelength that sits perfectly inside the LP900’s transmission window (T>90%).
- Halogen or Tungsten Incandescent Lamp: Unlike modern white LEDs (which emit very little IR), a halogen bulb emits a massive broadband spectrum that includes deep infrared.
