  • LP440 Longpass Filter - Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation)

LP440 Longpass Filter - Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation)

    Forensic Science (Crime Scene Investigation)

Investigators use special UV or deep blue flashlights to search for hidden evidence like fingerprints, bodily fluids, or forged documents. These hidden traces will glow a faint color when hit by the light. This filter acts as a high-tech "barrier" on the investigator's camera lens or goggles. It completely blocks the harsh, overpowering glare of the flashlight itself, letting only the faint, glowing colors of the evidence pass through so it can be seen and photographed clearly.

    Recommended light source:

    • 365nm UV LED Flashlight: This is a standard tool that makes many hidden substances (like certain fluids or fibers) glow naturally. The advantage is that the filter provides an absolute brick wall (OD6 rating) against the intense UV light, preventing the camera from being blinded and making the faint glow stand out sharply against a dark background.
    • 415nm Forensic Blue Light: This is used to illuminate special fluorescent powders when dusting for fingerprints. The advantage here is perfect timing: the filter chops off this harsh blue light entirely, allowing only the bright green or orange glow of the fingerprint powder to pass through to the camera.
  • LP440 Longpass Filter - Medical Dermatology (Skin Examination)

LP440 Longpass Filter - Medical Dermatology (Skin Examination)

    Medical Dermatology (Skin Examination)

Skin doctors use special UV lights to look beneath the surface of the skin for hidden sun damage, bacterial infections, or pigment issues. Different skin conditions or bacteria will glow in specific colors when the UV light hits them. By placing this filter over a diagnostic camera, it completely blocks the invisible UV rays bouncing off the patient's skin. This ensures the camera captures only the clear, visible glowing colors (like the coral-red glow of certain bacteria) that the doctor needs to make an accurate diagnosis.

    Recommended light source:

    • 365nm "Wood's Lamp" (Medical UV Light): This is the most common medical tool for making skin conditions glow. The major advantage of using this light with your filter is safety and clarity; the filter perfectly traps the harmful UV rays so they don't hit the camera sensor, leaving a pure, high-contrast image of the skin's reaction.
    • High-Power LED Deep Blue (400-420nm) Ring Light: Used for close-up medical photography. The advantage of this light source is that it delivers a massive amount of energy to make the skin glow brightly, while the filter easily handles and eliminates all the distracting blue glare that would otherwise ruin the photograph.
