This filter is commonly used in biology labs as an "excitation filter." Scientists use fluorescent dyes (like DAPI or Hoechst stains) to make specific parts of a cell—usually the DNA in the nucleus—glow. Recommended light source:

Unmounted filters

  • Listed size usually refers to the outside size of the mount
  • The filter inside is typically smaller than the mount
