Stock Availability

Yes. Listed filters are generally available from stock, but final availability may depend on size and quantity.

  • Most filters are kept as medium-sized coated pieces
  • Final size is usually diced before shipment
  • Preparation time may vary for urgent orders, custom sizes, or larger quantities
Custom Size & Mounting

We can usually cut optical filters to custom outer sizes, depending on available coated material.

Custom size
  • Typical custom size range: 3 × 3mm to 60 × 60mm
  • Custom sizing changes the outer dimension only
  • Thickness normally follows the original filter specification
  • Final feasibility depends on coated material size and cutting requirements
Mounting
  • Standard mounting options are
    dia12.5mm (mounted) - OD = dia12.5mm,Thickness=3.5mm,No Thread
    dia25mm (mounted) - OD = dia25mm,Thickness=3.5mm,No Thread
  • Mounted options can include non-threaded or threaded mounts
  • Custom mounting may be possible depending on quantity and mechanical requirements
Note
  • Please send the required size, quantity, mounting type, and product link before ordering.
Request Raw Data

Yes. You may request the transmission curve or related spectral data for engineering review.

Note
  • If you are not sure, please contact us to confirm whether import-handled delivery is supported in your region.

This SP650 shortpass filter is designed to transmit shorter wavelengths while reducing longer-wavelength infrared light. It is suitable for imaging, sensing, and optical inspection systems where shorter-wavelength signal needs to be separated from longer-wavelength background using broadband illumination or wavelength-centered signal detection setups. It helps reduce long-wavelength interference, protect detectors from unwanted infrared light, and improve signal clarity in shorter-wavelength measurements.

Key specifications:

  • Wavelength / main spec: 650 nm cut-off wavelength
  • Bandwidth / transition spec: See specification table for transition characteristics
  • Transmission / blocking: T >95%; OD5 blocking from 665-1100 nm
  • Format / custom option: Available in Dia 12.5mm to dia 25mm (mounted/unmounted), 60x60mm(unmounted); Custom sizes and mounting options available on request
SP650 Shortpass Filter - Fluorescence Microscopy

SP650 Shortpass Filter - Fluorescence Microscopy

Fluorescence Microscopy (Excitation Filter)

In biology and medicine, scientists use glowing dyes to highlight specific parts of a tiny cell under a microscope. To make the dye glow, they need to blast it with high-energy visible light (like blue or green). However, they absolutely must prevent any low-energy red or infrared light from the lamp from mixing into the microscope, as it would wash out the faint glow of the cell. This filter easily slices out just the visible part needed to "excite" the dyes.

Recommended light source:

  • Broadband Arc Lamps (Mercury or Xenon): These lamps are incredibly bright and output a massive spectrum of all light colors. The advantage here is that the filter easily tames these powerful lamps, blocking the useless infrared wavelengths while capturing the intense visible light needed for the experiment.
  • High-Power visible LEDs (Blue/Green): These run much cooler than arc lamps and target specific visible colors. The advantage of pairing them with this filter is to guarantee that absolutely no accidental "tail" of red light sneaks out to ruin the delicate image.

SP650 Shortpass Filter - Machine Vision and Automated Factory Inspection

Machine Vision and Automated Factory Inspection

Factory robots rely on cameras to inspect products on an assembly line. If a factory has large windows, fluctuating sunlight throughout the day introduces shifting amounts of infrared light, which can confuse the robot's camera and cause it to make mistakes. This filter acts as a shield, ensuring the robot's "eye" only sees the controlled, artificial visible light inside the factory, completely ignoring the changing infrared light from the sun.

Recommended light source:

  • Visible LED Ring Lights: These are typically mounted right on the robot's camera. The advantage is that they provide highly controlled, shadow-free visible illumination directly on the product, which easily passes through the filter.
  • Standard Fluorescent industrial lighting: This is the cheap, common lighting used to illuminate massive factory floors. The advantage is that it provides a broad baseline of visible light, and the filter ensures only this stable visible portion reaches the robot's sensor.
